There are always pros and cons to everything and anything. ALWAYS. Go ahead. Try to prove me wrong. Vegetables? Good for health, but doesn't provide certain nutrients that humans need. Cookie Monster? Cute, cuddly, educational but teaches kids its okay to binge on cookies. (Too bad cookies aren't healthy...) How you style your bangs are no exception. It may sound silly but I actually found the choice of either side bangs or straight bangs, difficult. I desperately looked for articles or blog posts that talked about the choice to help me decide but could find none. Now, after personally going through the process twice, I decided I could share my thoughts about it. Maybe I'm just crazy and there's no one out there looking for this article but I'm hoping this will be at least helpful for someone out there?
Straight Bangs
Depending on how your straight bangs look, they can either give you a very sophisticated, model like look or a very cute, doll like appearance. The main reason I personally switched to straight bangs was to try to achieve the latter look. Hyuna from 4minute actually sported straight bangs in her newest video 'Trouble Maker' and looked soooo cute too. <3
(I do not own the above pictures)
Did it work you ask?
ehhh... I leave that for you to decide xD
Pros
- Gives you a very innocent look! MUAHAHAHA you could do something wrong and no one would ever suspect the innocent looking one. (^__~)
- Looks very sleek with straight hair and doll like with curly hair.
- Hides pesky zits/pimples on your forehead.
- If you have a wide forehead, it doesn't look as obvious with straight bangs.
Cons
- Depending on your style, you really don't want to have the wind/outside elements messing with your bangs because then you will have split bangs and split bangs are hard to pull off. Very hard. Unless your Hyuna, of course.
- Can make your forehead oily or even more oily.
- Hard to pull them back from your face for a sport with a headband because of the short length.
- Might not work for everybody.
- Frequent maintenance and trimmings are required to make sure they stay the right length and don't get in your eyes.
Side Bangs
Side bangs are very popular. So popular in fact, that it seems like every girl (Asian to be specific) in my school has them. Not that it's bad, it's just that that sometimes a girl wants to look different. A reason for its immense popularity might be that it allows the wearer to pull off a lot of looks. It's versatile and everybody loves versatile. There's also the side bang and then there's the side swept bangs. Confusing right? I think so...

Side Swept Bangs
(I personally like side swept bangs better. Again, I do not own this picture.
This picture is actually from the drama, Bullfighting. Watched it and loved it! <3)
~Me with side swept bangs~
Pros
- Versatile, can be used for a lot of styles.
- Looks good on almost everybody!
- It's longer, therefore its easy to clip out of your face for masks or sports.
- Can also be used to hide zits/pimples if styled efficiently.
- Can go on longer without trimming them, just swish to the side. DUHH! xD
Cons
- Can also cause your forehead to be extra oily. Almost all bangs that cover your forehead actually will.
- Might be annoying and bother you to have hair in your face.
- Might make you look like you're having seizures if jerking head too much to get hair out of face. (O__O)
- Might impair your vision. (My sis suggested this. LMAO xD)
Hopefully, this article showed you that the choice of what kind of bangs to get is very complicated and requires a lot of thought...that or that this made you laugh. Oh well. xP Do you guys even have bangs? If so, what kind? Are some of the pros and cons said, true? Show some love <3 and comment below~

I've had both before and definitely side swept is my fav as straight bangs dont work with my thin flat hair that has a tendency to stick flat to my forehead.. Eww..
